Leek Rice

Dressing up that everyday side is what I like. I mean, white rice is always good. But the possibilities for dressing it up are endless! I totally recommend this one. It’s intense leek and garlic infusion is balanced by a subtle hint of turmeric and thyme. Perfect to join any protein on your plate!

Leek Rice

A very simple rice to make, yet so flavorful with the sweetness of the leeks. Any meat will be highlighted with this side dish.

ingredients:

Ingredients
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups leeks, sliced
  • 1/2 cup minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 Tbsp dried thyme
  • 3 cups cooked aromatic rice, basmati or jasmine
  • Fresh thyme sprigs for garnish
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

instructions:

Directions
  1. In olive oil, over medium heat, sauté leeks until they start to wilt
  2. Add garlic, dried thyme and turmeric. Stir for 1 minute
  3. Add rice and stir gently until all is incorporated
  4. Season with salt and paper to taste. Stir for no more than 3 minutes over medium high heat 
  5. Serve warm with fresh thyme as garnish
