Easy Pizza Dough
Sometimes the need to get my hands on a ball of dough overpowers the ease of ordering a pizza and serving from a box. The simple things like watching the dough rise, and smelling the bread aroma that fills my kitchen are so satisfying.
The beautiful part of making pizza at home is the selection of toppings. No rules! I like to go crazy adding our favorite sauces and cheeses and meats and veggies. And using fresh herbs before serving makes all the ingredients pop.
What’s your favorite combo of toppings?

How to cook Easy Pizza Dough
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix warm (not hot) water, sugar and instant yeast. Let this sit for 5 minutes and let the yeast come to life. The mix should become frothy, meaning the yeast is alive and working.
- Add olive oil, salt and the flours. Mix until all the dough comes together and you form a ball.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until it is smooth, elastic and no longer sticky.
- Spread olive oil in the bowl, and return the dough to the bowl, turning the dough to coat with the oil
- Cover the dough with a damp towel and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Uncover and punch down on the dough.
- Remove from the bowl and divide into 4 pieces for small pizzas, or 2 pieces for large pizzas.
- Form the pieces into balls, cover with a damp towel and let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 400F/200C
- Roll out the dough into circles.
- Place on greased cookie sheets (alternatively, sprinkle cornmeal or semolina on the tray before placing the rolled out dough).
- Spread with your favorite sauce, lots of cheese and any toppings you like.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until edges turn golden brown.
